Brian Heder

Brian Heder is a confirmed supporting character in Grand Theft Auto VI — a veteran of what Rockstar calls “the golden age of smuggling in the Keys,” and the load-bearing figure of Jason Duval’s side of the story. Jason lives rent-free at one of Brian’s properties and pays for it by helping with local shakedowns and odd jobs; that arrangement is where Jason’s chapter of GTA VI begins.

Brian gets his first gameplay screen time in An Extended Look, the 27-minute showcase from August 2026. Jason and Lucia meet him, and the scene carries a flashback: the pair in the hands of law enforcement after a heist that fell apart. After the diner robbery that follows, Jason and Brian share a cigar.

A relic of an older Keys

Rockstar’s phrase “golden age of smuggling in the Keys” reaches for a specific real-world mythology: the cocaine-cowboys era of 1970s–80s South Florida, when fast boats and small airstrips ran contraband up the coast. Brian is written as someone who survived that world’s collapse and kept a smaller version of the trade alive — a living link between GTA VI’s present-day Leonida and the history the state is built on.

The boat yard, and Lori

Brian’s base of operations is a working boat yard in the Leonida Keys, which functions as both his cover business and his smuggling logistics hub. He runs it with Lori, described in official material as his third wife — a detail specific enough to suggest she’s more than background color, even though she doesn’t yet have her own official character page.

Brian is also the connective node between two other confirmed characters: Cal Hampton is named as a fellow associate, completing the small circle of Keys operators around Jason.

Possible story role

• The first employer. With Jason living on his property and working off the rent, Brian is almost certainly the early-game mission hub — a familiar GTA archetype: the flawed father-figure boss.
• Old way vs. new way. A golden-age smuggler in a story headed toward Vice City’s modern criminal economy is built for generational conflict — whether Brian adapts or gets left behind looks like the arc.
• Lori as a wildcard. Rockstar naming a spouse in official copy without giving her a page is historically how the series seeds characters who matter later.
