Tucked into Trailer 1 is a rapid-cut montage that isn’t gameplay at all — it’s a burst of in-universe media: Weazel News chyrons and phone-screen social posts, all leaning hard into the “Florida Man” viral-clip genre real Florida has been feeding the internet for over a decade. It’s one of the clearest signals that GTA VI’s satire isn’t just aimed at the usual targets (celebrity culture, politics, big business) — this time it’s aimed at us, scrolling.

Weazel News

Weazel News has been GTA’s in-universe news brand since GTA IV, and it’s back — aerial “chopper cam” shots with a live news chyron running real Florida-news-adjacent headlines underneath.

The headlines are doing double duty as worldbuilding: dirt bikes “terrorizing” Vice City and cops who can’t keep up both line up with what the wanted system and NPC behavior pages describe about how law enforcement is being reworked this time.

Social Media Satire

New for GTA VI: a scrollable, TikTok/Instagram-style feed of parody posts from accounts like PlanetLeonidaMan and DadBodSquad — the series applying its trademark satire to influencer culture and viral “look at this idiot” clips instead of just TV and radio.

An Extended Look settled the app question: the phone carries a scrollable Snapmatic-style feed, each character follows their own accounts, and some posts point to real places on the map. Whether the Weazel-flavoured parody accounts from Trailer 1’s montage live in that feed is the part still unshown.

Why it’s here

GTA has satirized media since the radio stations of GTA III. Weazel News turning its cameras on “Florida Man”-style chaos, sitting right next to a fake social feed mocking the same chaos going viral, is the series updating that joke for an era where the news and the meme are often the same clip. Expect more of both once Rockstar shows additional footage. One show in that same satirical TV landscape even has a name and a backstory — CNT’s The Underbelly of Paradise.

Everything here comes from official Rockstar materials. Analysis is labeled. We don’t publish leaks.
