Quick Answer: GTA 6 rebalances gunplay toward skill and awareness. Auto-aim is off by default — players tune the aiming system and the degree of target stickiness themselves. Enemies no longer show up on the minimap, so your eyes do the tracking. Carrying gets physical: two pistols concealed, two long guns at once — one slung on the back, one in hand — and Jason and Lucia can pass weapons to each other mid-action. NPCs read your loadout too, reacting to how many guns you carry and what’s currently in your hands.

Aiming: Off the Rails

The series’ trademark lock-on assist steps back. Auto-aim ships disabled, and instead of a single toggle you get granular control: configure the aiming system and set how strongly the reticle sticks to targets. Rockstar hands the skill curve to the player — full manual purists and assist fans tune the same system to opposite ends.

The Minimap Stops Playing Wallhack

Enemies are gone from the minimap. No more circling red dots to fight by radar — positioning, sound and line of sight carry the encounter. The map goes back to being a navigation tool rather than a combat cheat sheet.

Movement You Can Dial In

Character speed is adjustable across the range from walk to run, rather than snapping between fixed gaits. Small on paper, big in stealth: creeping through a location at exactly the pace the situation demands is now a native control, and it pairs naturally with the sneaking systems around concealed weapons.

Carrying Weapons: Physical and Visible

The loadout has a body now:

The full confirmed weapon list lives on the weapons page.

NPCs Read Your Silhouette

The world answers your loadout. NPC reactions scale with how many weapons you carry and what’s in your hands right now — a holstered pistol and a shouldered rifle draw different responses. It feeds the same logic as clerk reactions during robberies: the city measures the threat you present and behaves accordingly.
