GTA 6 launches November 19, 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That’s the complete official platform list — it’s what Rockstar’s own site and every legitimate storefront say, and what you can pre-order today. Per Rockstar’s launch messaging as reported by press: launch day is the single-player experience, with the online mode following after release rather than shipping day one.

⚠️ Scam warning: there is no PC pre-order. GTA 6 has no announced PC version and no legitimate PC pre-order anywhere. Every site selling a “GTA 6 PC key” — at any price, on any storefront — is selling something that does not exist. Buy only PS5/Xbox versions from official stores or major retailers.

Is GTA 6 on PS4 or Xbox One?

No. There’s no last-gen version, and none has been listed by any retailer. Treat any video claiming otherwise as clickbait. The game is built around current-gen SSDs and a persistent, full-state world — a last-gen version would need to have been announced alongside PS5 and Xbox Series X|S if it existed, and Rockstar’s own pattern points the other way: GTA 5 moved forward a generation over time, never back.

Is GTA 6 coming to PC?

Not announced. There’s no PC version to buy or wishlist yet, and Rockstar hasn’t given a date or even a “coming later.” That said, the studio’s own history makes a PC port very likely eventually — GTA 5 reached PC about 19 months after console, and Red Dead Redemption 2 took about 13 months. Full breakdown: GTA 6 PC Release Date.

Some outlets frame the delay as deliberate sequencing rather than PC being an afterthought: build and ship the most controlled platform environment first, then expand.

PC release date vs console: what the gap actually looks like

If you’re deciding whether to buy a console or wait for PC, this is the honest trade-off. The console date is a fact; the PC date is an estimate built from Rockstar’s own two most recent releases, and nothing more.

Console (PS5, Xbox Series X|S) PC
Status Confirmed by Rockstar Not announced
Date November 19, 2026 No date exists
Estimated window Roughly late 2027 to mid 2028, if the GTA 5 / RDR2 pattern holds
Basis for the date Rockstar’s own announcement Pattern only: GTA 5 took ~19 months, RDR2 ~13 months
Can you pre-order? Yes No — there’s nothing to pre-order

Estimate — not announced by Rockstar

Read that estimate window as what it is: arithmetic on two past releases, not somebody’s announcement and not a roadmap. Rockstar has never committed to porting GTA 6 to PC at all, and the studio has broken its own patterns before. The practical takeaway is simply that waiting for PC means waiting an unknown amount of time that has historically been over a year. Deeper breakdown of the timing case: GTA 6 PC Release Date. For whether your rig will handle it when it does arrive: PC Requirements.

What about Switch 2?

Not announced. Rockstar has confirmed exactly two platforms — PS5 and Xbox Series X|S — and nothing else.

Two things keep the question alive:

A widely-shared “GTA 6 coming to Switch 2” post that went viral in June 2026 turned out to be a satire account’s joke that many people mistook for real news. Rockstar has never brought a mainline GTA game to a Nintendo platform, and the RAGE engine’s current-gen console requirements make a same-day Switch 2 launch very unlikely.

Will GTA 6 have crossplay?

At launch this is a non-question: GTA 6 ships as a single-player experience, so there’s nothing to cross-play. The multiplayer question arrives with the next-generation GTA Online, which Rockstar has said follows after the main launch. Worth knowing: Rockstar has never shipped crossplay in any title — GTA Online and Red Dead Online both kept PlayStation, Xbox, and PC populations separate.

Performance: what to expect on each console

Digital Foundry’s breakdown of An Extended Look put numbers on it. On a base PS5 the game renders at 1440p internally — no dynamic resolution, no temporal upscaler, just a plain spatial upscale to 4K — and targets 30 fps. Rob Nelson has since said that 30 fps is the target on every console at launch, PS5 Pro included; what the Pro is expected to add is resolution and ray-tracing quality, not frames. A 60 fps option has not been ruled out — Nelson says the decision still sits with the tech team, at launch or later — which makes the first patch notes worth reading closely.

Nothing has been published for Xbox Series X|S. On paper the Series X sits close enough to the PS5 that the same 1440p target is the reasonable expectation; the Series S will have to give something up, and Rockstar hasn’t said what.

FAQ

What platforms is GTA 6 on?
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, launching November 19, 2026. That’s the complete confirmed list.

When could a GTA 6 PC version arrive?
No date announced. Rockstar’s history with GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 suggests a PC port likely comes 13–19 months after console launch.

Is GTA 6 on PS4 or Xbox One?
No. There’s no last-gen version, and none is expected — the game is built specifically around current-gen hardware.

Is GTA 6 coming to Switch 2?
Not announced. Rumors point to a possible 2027 port, but nothing has been confirmed by Rockstar or Nintendo, and a viral “confirmation” post in June 2026 turned out to be satire.

Does GTA 6 have crossplay?
It launches single-player, so crossplay doesn’t apply yet. For the future GTA Online, nothing is announced — and Rockstar has never shipped crossplay in any previous title.

Will the online mode be available at launch?
No. Launch day is single-player only; the online mode is confirmed to follow after release.

Will GTA 6 run at 60fps?
Not at launch. The target is 30 fps on every console, PS5 Pro included, and Digital Foundry measured exactly that in the extended look. Rob Nelson says a 60 fps option is still the tech team’s decision — at launch or in an update later.
