Price and editions
The Italian PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store show the same numbers: €79.99 for the Standard Edition and €99.99 for the Ultimate. For months the rumour mill promised a hundred euros for the base game, so eighty almost feels like a discount. It isn’t one, of course. It’s the new normal price of a big game, and GTA 6 is simply the first one I don’t mind paying it for.
If you can’t decide, start with Standard. The Ultimate upgrade stays on sale after launch for the same €20, so nothing is lost by waiting for reviews of what’s inside each edition.
Where to pre-order in Italy
Digital pre-orders opened at the stroke of midnight on June 25. The boxed edition followed in the morning at the big chains: GameLife, which took over the old GameStop shops, Unieuro and MediaWorld. Opening night had its drama. GameLife’s site buckled under the traffic, and Amazon skipped the night entirely across Europe.
Remember what the box is. There is no disc inside, only a download code. The boxes reach the shops on November 12, the same day preload opens, so a physical copy gives you a case for the shelf and the same download as everyone else.
Italian: subtitles yes, dubbing no
Rockstar’s language list for GTA 6 has thirteen entries for text and one for audio. Italian is among the thirteen, so you get subtitles and menus in Italian. English is the one.
I know how that lands in Italy, a country where every film arrives dubbed and the dubbing actors are stars of their own. But try to imagine Vice City talk radio re-recorded in a studio in Rome. The jokes would survive. The city wouldn’t. So you will be reading at full speed on a bridge now and then, and missing a punchline. I can live with that.
The Vercetti bonus
Every pre-order, and every digital purchase made through November 20, 2026, includes the Vintage Vice City Pack: a two-tone Vapid Stanier, 80s outfits for Jason and Lucia and a weapon pattern lifted from Tommy’s famous shirt. You don’t have to pre-order today to get it.
Digital pre-orders add a month of GTA+. It renews by itself at the end of the month, so switch the renewal off the same day you claim it.
PEGI 18
Italy uses PEGI, and the box will carry the same 18 as GTA 5 does. The store pages haven’t filled that line in yet, and nobody expects a surprise. Game ratings usually arrive in the last weeks before launch.
The night between November 18 and 19
The Italian store listing shows midnight, 00:00 CET. Preload starts on November 12, a week earlier. Start it that same evening: nobody wants to watch a progress bar while the group chat is already posting screenshots. Japan will be eight hours ahead of you by then, so mute a few keywords on Wednesday afternoon — the country-by-country times are here.
Tommy would have liked the timing. Midnight, the middle of November, and a whole country awake for a story about a robbery that went wrong.
