You’ll see both claims online. The correct count is two delays, three windows. The confusion comes from the original announcement: Trailer 1 in December 2023 said “2025” without a month, which later firmed up as Fall 2025. Some outlets counted “2025 → Fall 2025” as a delay; it wasn’t — it was the same window getting specific. Every shift after that is in the table above.

Delay 1: Fall 2025 → May 26, 2026

Announced May 2, 2025, months before the original window would have arrived. Rockstar’s statement was short and apologetic, citing the need for extra time to meet quality expectations. Notably, this delay came with a firm date rather than a vague window — and Trailer 2 followed the announcement, softening the blow with the first real look at Jason and Lucia’s story.

Delay 2: May 26 → November 19, 2026

Announced November 6, 2025 — about six months before the May date. Same core reasoning: finishing polish. This one stung more because pre-release marketing felt imminent, but in hindsight the pattern is classic Rockstar: Red Dead Redemption 2 was also delayed twice before shipping in famously complete form.

Why Analysts Believe November 19 Holds

The arguments, in order of weight:

1. The SEC filing. In July 2026, Take-Two reaffirmed November 19 in a preliminary proxy statement filed with the SEC — a formal legal disclosure to shareholders, far harder to walk back than an interview quote. More in our Release Date guide.
2. The money is tied to the date. Take-Two’s record net-bookings guidance for fiscal 2027 effectively requires the game to ship inside that window.
3. The machine is running. Pre-orders opened June 25, 2026, preload is scheduled for November 12, boxed copies are being manufactured (as download-code boxes — no disc), and the marketing campaign is live. Companies rarely reach this stage and then pull back.
4. CEO repetition on the record. Strauss Zelnick has publicly stood behind November 19 throughout 2026, including on earnings calls.

This is still Rockstar — a studio that has delayed nearly everything it has ever shipped. A third delay can’t be ruled out; it is simply less likely than at any previous point.
