Quick Answer: Six songs are confirmed for GTA 6 so far — all heard in the two official trailers, from Tom Petty’s Love Is a Long Road to the Haitian kompa of Zenglen. The full tracklist stays under wraps (GTA 5 shipped with 240+ licensed songs, so expect hundreds), but a trail of artist slip-ups — T-Pain, Panama, Neon Indian — sketches what’s coming. And the confirmed six already proved their worth: two of them exploded on Spotify by five and six digits the week their trailers dropped.

The Confirmed Six

Rockstar has a decades-long habit: songs in the trailers end up on the in-game radio. By that rule, here’s the launch playlist so far:

Song Artist Year Where it plays
Love Is a Long Road Tom Petty 1989 The voice of Trailer 1
Hot Together The Pointer Sisters 1986 Trailer 2’s main theme — kicks in as Lucia walks out of prison
Thunder Island Jay Ferguson 1977 Trailer 2 opening, over Jason and Brian Heder
Child Support Zenglen 2004 Jason’s car radio — Haitian kompa
Everybody Have Fun Tonight Wang Chung 1986 Jason’s car radio, mid-drive
Talkin’ To Myself Again Tammy Wynette 1987 The scene with Leonida’s cops

Six songs, four different worlds: heartland rock, ‘80s synth-pop, country, and Caribbean kompa. That spread is the series’ signature move — every radio press should feel like changing planets — and the kompa pick doubles as world-building, nodding straight at Vice City’s Haitian community. A seventh track hides in Trailer 2’s Ammu-Nation commercial: I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll, though fans still argue whether it’s the 1975 Arrows original, the Joan Jett classic, or a cover recorded for the game.

The Spotify Effect: GTA as a Resurrection Machine

The numbers around these songs tell a story of their own. After Trailer 1, Love Is a Long Road — an album track from Tom Petty’s 1989 Full Moon Fever, unknown to most listeners under 30 — jumped roughly 37,000% in Spotify streams within a week. Trailer 2 topped it: Hot Together spiked by a reported 182,000%. A two-minute trailer turned two catalog tracks into chart news, which is exactly the power that makes labels line up for GTA placements.

Petty, by the way, is a returning guest: Runnin’ Down a Dream played on San Andreas radio back in 2004. Rockstar keeps its favorites.

The Artists Who Couldn’t Keep Quiet

Rockstar says nothing about the full lineup — but the artists keep saying things for it. T-Pain has said Rockstar asked him to stop streaming on GTA roleplay servers while the game was in development; the story comes from him alone, and fans read it as a sign he is involved. Panama, the voice behind GTA V’s Radio Mirror Park material, wrote on Instagram that a 2023 track made with Poolside would appear on GTA 6 radio — then deleted the comment, which in the GTA rumor economy only fuels the talk. Neon Indian (who wrote GTA Online’s intro music) and ScHoolboy Q have made similar slips. The “post, then delete” pattern has become its own genre of evidence — treat each name as likely, not locked.

The Fictional Layer: Leonida’s Own Stars

GTA 6 also composes its own music scene. Rockstar’s character pages introduce Real Dimez — rapper duo Bae-Luxe and Roxy, who went from street corners to a record deal — and Dre’Quan Priest, the ambitious operator building his Only Raw Records label, with Vice City legend Boobie Ike’s recording studio in the background. In-universe artists with in-universe careers strongly suggests original music written for the game’s world, the way Love Fist once “existed” in 2002’s Vice City — except now the fake stars have story arcs.

How Big Will It Get?

For scale: GTA 5 launched with over 240 licensed tracks across 17 stations and grew past 750 songs through the Online years — plus curated stations from Frank Ocean, Tyler, the Creator, and Flying Lotus. GTA 6, set in one of America’s most musical cities, is widely expected to aim higher. The full tracklist and station lineup should surface during the marketing sprint before November 19 — and if history repeats, a few dozen forgotten songs are about to have the best week of their lives.
