Quick answer. GTA 6 has shown three places you can call your own so far, plus a motel room fans have adopted as a fourth. Jason starts the game in Brian Heder’s house on the Leonida Keys, living rent-free in exchange for working for Brian; Lucia moves in once she is out of prison. The Starlet Motel in Port Gellhorn is the room from Trailer 1 that fans have adopted as a safehouse. And two personal garages come with the editions: Shore Court in Ocean Beach with the Vintage Vice City Pack, and Paradise Garage in Watson Bay with the Ultimate Edition — each with a weapon locker and a drop point for stolen goods. Whether you can buy houses and businesses on top of that is the question everyone is asking, and the series’ track record says yes.

An Extended Look: the safehouse as a lived-in place

The 27-minute showcase turned the safehouse from a save point into a place with people in it. Jason and Lucia share one, and each keeps their own schedule inside — walk in and you’ll find the other asleep, cooking, or already out of the house. Rockstar’s own comparison is not to the empty apartments of older GTAs but to the camps of Red Dead Redemption 2: other people drift through, and one of the homes shown to the press belonged to someone else entirely.

The home is also where several systems live. You trim your own hair and beard there, and any length is available on the spot — none of RDR2’s waiting for it to grow back — though a genuinely new cut still needs a barber, and every salon keeps its own signature styles. Personal vehicles are kept at the safehouse and both characters can own several; a stolen car joins them only after you pay to register it. Trunks work now, and the wanted system is the reason you care: a spare outfit and a couple of guns in the back are what get you out of a chase.

The warmest scene in the showcase is set in one of these houses. Lucia comes in with a bag of clothes for Jason, he takes a beer from the fridge and drops in front of the TV — which works much as it did in GTA 5, only the living room around it looks lived in. The full list of what was shown is in the Trailer 3 breakdown.

Brian Heder’s house — where Jason starts

Trailer 2 opens on a roof. Jason is up there with a hammer, fixing shingles on a green wooden house by the water, and that one image says more about his life than any biography: he is broke, he works with his hands, and the house is not his. It belongs to Brian Heder, the old smuggler who runs a boatyard on the Leonida Keys and rents out property on the side. Rockstar’s own bios spell out the deal — Jason lives there for free, and in return he does Brian’s dirty work, collecting debts from tenants included.

Fans place the house on Key Lento, one of the smaller keys along the causeway. It is the game’s first safehouse in every practical sense: a bed, a porch, a boat within reach, and a landlord who is also your boss. When Lucia gets out of prison she moves in, and the trailers show the two of them here — which makes the house the home base for the early story, and very likely the place you keep coming back to before Vice City opens up.

Starlet Motel — the Trailer 1 room

The most quoted exchange in the whole marketing campaign — “Trust? — Trust” — happens in a room at the Starlet Motel in Port Gellhorn, a roadside town with a boardwalk and a run-down beach. Fans have adopted the motel as Jason and Lucia’s hideout, and the setting fits: cheap, anonymous, off the main road. Judging by the footage it is a story location first — a place the two of them pass through on the way to something bigger — but motels have been safehouses in GTA before, and this one already feels like it.

Shore Court and Paradise — the edition garages

The clearest look at property mechanics so far comes from Rockstar’s edition pages, and both items are garages.

Shore Court Garage sits on Shore Drive in Ocean Beach, one of the named Vice City districts, a short walk from the sand. Rockstar describes it as a personal garage for one vehicle, with a weapon locker and a secure spot to drop stolen goods so they can be fenced. It comes with the Vintage Vice City Pack, the pre-order bonus.

Paradise Garage is the Ultimate Edition counterpart, located in Watson Bay and sized for the edition’s monster truck. Same setup: one vehicle, a weapon locker, a place to stash stolen goods.

Three mechanics follow from two short descriptions. Personal garages are a class of property in GTA 6, tied to a specific street in a specific district. Weapon lockers are part of the home — the way to store and switch loadouts rather than carrying everything at once. And stolen goods are dropped somewhere to be fenced, which means there is a fence: someone who buys what you steal and turns it into cash. That last one connects straight into the robbery side of Crimes in GTA 6 — stolen items need somewhere to go, and the garage is that somewhere.

There is one more thing the garages tell you: property in the editions is handed over from the start of the game, automatically, with no purchase step. That is the baseline. Everything beyond it is what fans are waiting to hear about.

Businesses owned by the cast

Property in GTA 6 is not just where you sleep. Two supporting characters already run empires you will walk through.

Neither is yours, at least at the start. But GTA has a long habit of turning the assets of the people you work for into assets you eventually own.

What fans have spotted

Beyond the four confirmed places, a few buildings keep coming up.

Further down the wishlist are the kinds of places the series always ends up giving you: a print works, a warehouse in Port Gellhorn, a hideout deep in Grassrivers. For now they are a wishlist, but every GTA since 2002 has had its version of them.

Buying property: what the series suggests

The big question is whether you can buy real estate at all. The precedent is strong. Vice City in 2002 let Tommy buy ten businesses that paid out passive income; GTA 5 had “For Sale” signs and phone purchases, weekly earnings, garages and special missions attached to each property. Fans expect GTA 6 to pick up that thread, and the edition garages — tied to specific addresses, with functional interiors — look like the first entries in a longer list.

Two more expectations come out of the trailers. The roof repair in Trailer 2 had fans hoping for home repair and customization, something like the camp upgrades in Red Dead Redemption 2 — and the extended look moved that from fan reading to Rockstar’s own framing, since the studio is the one drawing the RDR2 camp comparison. A house that changes as you put money into it is still unconfirmed. And the sheer number of businesses owned by the cast suggests an economy where ownership matters. Details will come closer to release; the foundations are already visible.

FAQ

Can you buy property in GTA 6? Fans expect it. The series has had purchasable real estate since the 2002 Vice City, and GTA 5 let you buy businesses with weekly income. Rockstar has so far shown two personal garages that come with the editions.

Which safehouses have been shown in GTA 6? Brian Heder’s house on the Leonida Keys, where Jason lives at the start and Lucia moves in later; the Starlet Motel room in Port Gellhorn from Trailer 1; and two garages — Shore Court in Ocean Beach and Paradise Garage in Watson Bay.

What does the Shore Court Garage give you? A personal one-car garage on Shore Drive in Ocean Beach, with a weapon locker and a drop point for stolen goods to be fenced. It comes with the Vintage Vice City Pack pre-order bonus.

What does the Paradise Garage give you? A personal garage in Watson Bay built for the Ultimate Edition’s monster truck, with a weapon locker and a stolen goods drop. Ultimate Edition only.

Will you be able to repair or customize your home in GTA 6? Not shown. Trailer 2 opens with Jason fixing the roof of his house, and Rockstar itself compares the safehouses to RDR2’s camps — but the comparison is about people passing through, not about upgrades you buy. No repair or customization system has been demonstrated.

Will GTA 6 have businesses with passive income? The series has done it twice — Vice City’s ten businesses and GTA 5’s weekly payouts — and fans expect a third time. Boobie Ike’s real estate, strip club and record label show what a GTA 6 business portfolio looks like.

Is the Starlet Motel a safehouse? In the footage it is the location of the Trailer 1 scene. Fans treat it as Jason and Lucia’s hideout, and motels have been safehouses in GTA before.
